This week we’re focusing on connection, how you communicate with your dance partner without words ( yes this old chestnut is essential: Leading & following).
Great salsa isn’t about complicated moves.
Believe me it’s not! As far as I’m concerned, as a follower I’d rather much prefer being lead nicely into simple and well executed moves rather than being pulled right, left and centre.
For me SALSA is about:
• Clear leading & following
• Feeling your partner’s movement
• Staying relaxed through arms and body maintaining appropriate tension
• Moving together as one
Try this whenever you can
Keep your arms relaxed and your frame comfortable with good tension. Try to lead correctly OR follow without anticipating what the leader might be doing. Connection rather than anticipation is key.
When connection improves, everything feels so much nicer and easier, turns are smoother, the dance is so much enjoyable and dancing becomes way more fun.
Remember: connection first, moves second ❤️
