Who Are Giles and Rosa
The founders of OnSalsa Oxford. Giles and Rosa have a background in classical ballet, modern jazz and tap dance with over 25 years of experience each. They started dancing Salsa in 1999 and complemented their dance training in the USA with the Rumberos Dance Company, the King of Salsa Mr Eddie Torres, to name a few and in Cuba with the Narcisso Medina Dance Company.
- In 2000, Giles and Rosa founded OnSalsa Oxford and opened their OnSalsa Dance School in Summertown Oxford.
- From 2000 – 2005, Giles and Rosa entered and won several salsa competitions
including the world famous Bacardi World Congress competition where
Giles came 2nd nationally. - In 2006, they pioneered “Salsa Student Performance Courses” in Oxford. These courses were developed to enable social dancers to acquire performance skills and give them the opportunity to show case their choreographies in the UK.
- In 2007, they formed their professional dance group, IGNITE Dance Company,
and performed both nationally and internationally. - 2007- present , official coaches of the Oxford University Salsa Teams
- Giles hold the Guiness World Record in leading the most spins!
- Giles and Rosa also host monthly Salsa party nights at the Oxford City Bar 1882, Court Place Farm, OX3 0NQ every 2nd Friday of each month
