Giles and Rosa are the founders and principal teachers of OnSalsa. They are very experienced (Cross Body Lead) teachers who focus on their students' learning and progress. They developed a good curriculum to ensure their students get the best of their lessons whilst having fun which makes their lessons very successful and in demand.

Rosa teaches the Beginners Course and Giles teaches the Intermediate Class.

I have been dancing Salsa for 9 years and teaching for the last 5 years. Since I started dancing, Salsa has been the focus of my social life. It helped me meet new people and make great friends such as Giles & Rosa and we've been great friends ever since ;).

For the last 5 years, not only have I been teaching for Giles and Rosa at Oxford Brookes University and their popular Tuesday Salsa evening in Summertown, but I also taught for various local organisations and used to DJ regularly in Oxford.

My teaching method focuses on technique as well as encouraging my students to express themselves while dancing and gaining enjoyment from finding their own interpretation of the music.

My first taste of Salsa was at a random Salsa night, when I realised I wanted to learn how to dance! I started taking Salsa lessons with Rosa & Giles at the end of 2005, and I got very addicted with the numerous Salsa nights and Salsa weekends we were attending!

Before I discovered Salsa, I had already trained in ballet for 5 years and gymnastics for 2 years. I have experienced additional Salsa training in 'LA' and 'NY' styles by various instructors at Salsa weekenders and also in New York City. Recently, I have been a member of the two Performance Groups taught by Rosa & Giles from April 2007 until present. I am also part of the Oxford University Salsa Team 2007-8.

My favourite part about Salsa, though, is social dancing and parties! So see you on the dance floor!)

    Meeka

Meeka has recently started assisting Ian at Improvers level to develop her Salsa teaching.

I have been taking Salsa lessons with Giles and Rosa for one and a half years now and I love it. I find it fun, exciting and most of all, a great way to interact and meet new friends. After 8 months I began to take part in the student performance course, which I have been in twice. The course has helped me to advance in a variety of techniques such as spinning, styling, hip movement and facial expressions and so much more.

My dance background started from the age of 4, I danced to north Indian folk dances, as I became older I trained in a south Indian dance known as 'khatak' which taught me how to move my feet, hips, arms not to mention gave me core balance. I now assist Ian in the improvers group while taking part in the next performance course and hope to continue Salsa until I am 80 :)

I started learning Salsa in the summer of 2006 having never danced a step of anything before in my life. Almost overnight, I went from being terrified of dance floors to being addicted and have been dancing almost constantly ever since. My first lessons were at clubs in my home town of Reading and then further afield.

I have just completed the Performance Course with Giles & Rosa's On Salsa Student Group which culminated with performances at popular Salsa clubs and week-enders. Recently, Rosa's spotted my potential and she asked me to become her teaching assistant which I greatly enjoy.

I have found Salsa to be the perfect way to enjoy a fantastic, varied style of music, make some great, lasting friendships and keep fit without trying.
